blogism – Creative Foundations / E1 submission

The doctors used to tell my mum I wouldn’t be able learn how to communicate properly. I prove them wrong every day; I speak in English, Spanish, and music. I’d argue I speak in music more fluently than in any other language. Music speaks to me more deeply than any form of verbal communication.

My dad told me I was five years old when I suddenly stopped to watch a man in his fifties play the piano in public. That was the first time I’ve ever kept still for more than five minutes. He tried calling me by my name around five times, but I only listened to fifths.

<ambient jazz music plays in the background> I love music and it’s basically taken over my whole life, and as a musician I want to write my journey as a Media and Communications student as how I learn to express myself through other mediums.

<lead synths fade in> My name is Liam and I’m a first-year university student here at LCC, and I’m quite local to the area of South London, with me having grown up in Lambeth my whole life.

So, in this blog I will be mainly talking about music, showcasing my own work, and also talking about the history and culture of London’s music scene. I aim to express how much this melting pot of entertainment means to us in this corner of the world.

There’s a lot of new up-and-coming underground talent coming out right now from this city, and from the rest of the UK as well. From writings about the studio sessions that I’m in, to breakdowns of songs that I’m currently working on, and new emerging talent, I’m here to shine a light on everyone coming up right now in the alternative underground scene. <music fades out>

film/video

I aim to tell a story of a few musicians from London on the way to perform at their show. I want it to be positive and have some emotional value, whilst keeping it simple and edited in a montage-style. It will be shot and filmed in a 4:3 aspect ratio since I want a personal element to it.

This will be feasible in future production because essentially this is the life I live. This is a personal montage of my life as a Londoner and a musician, surrounded by other talented acts in every field.

This mood-board portrays a desaturated yet vibrant theme, as this is the style I hope to achieve in my forthcoming instrumental album Limbo’s Reject. I included some images from the areas I grew up in, and some photos I found on the internet.
